Internal Assessments There are four internal assessments at Higher: In Unit 1, you'll sit Close Reading and Close Listening assessments where you'll be expected to show that you can understand, analyse and evaluate detailed and complex written and spoken texts.
A discursive essay is basically of two types. In the first case, you might be given a particular topic. You need to discuss the issue argumentatively, in favour or against the subject matter. You should also talk about the pros and cons of the topic of discussion neutrally. However, in the second case, you can choose a side to highlight and back it up with supportive statements with persuasive.

An essay is generally a short piece of writing outlining the writer’s perspective or story. It is often considered synonymous with a story or a paper or an article. Essays can be formal as well as informal. Formal essays are generally academic in nature and tackle serious topics. We will be focusing on informal essays which are more personal and often have humorous elements.
IELTS two-part question essay, also known as direct question essay, asks you to write in response to two or more direct questions. For example: Millions of people every year move to English speaking countries such as Australia, Britain or America, in order to study at school, college or university.
An essay type question requires the pupil to plan his own answer and to explain it in his own words. The pupil exercises considerable freedom to select, organise and present his ideas. Essay type tests provide a better indication of pupil’s real achievement in learning. The answers provide a clue to nature and quality of the pupil’s thought process.
